Miranda Instant Messenger is an extremely powerful and highly usable instant messaging client. Miranda uses very little memory and requires no installation. Just unzip and run. This also makes it ideal for users that want to run their messenger client from a removable storage such as an USB memory stick. Miranda is also very small and can even fit onto a floppy disk if not too many plugins are used. When you first get Miranda, its functionality is very limited. You have a buddy list and access to common chat protocols (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Jabber, and IRC). Other protocols, like Yahoo, VyChat, Gadu-Gadu, Tlen, E-Mage, Netsend, EmLanProto, POP3, and more, can easily be added through their extensive plug-in feature. The powerful plugin system makes Miranda extremely flexible. On Miranda website there are currently nearly 300 plugins available for download that allows users to extend the functionality in Miranda.
